About me
Hi I’m Hefin,
I'm a professional musician and teacher with over 17 years of teaching experience, and I feel incredibly lucky to spend my days sharing my passion for music with others.
Over the years, I've had the privilege of teaching students of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners taking their very first lesson to more advanced musicians preparing for exams, auditions and performances. One thing has remained the same throughout my teaching journey: I believe music should be enjoyable. While learning an instrument takes dedication and practice, it should also be inspiring, rewarding and, most importantly, fun.
My lessons are relaxed, supportive and always tailored to you. Whether you're a parent looking for lessons for your child, a teenager working towards exams, or an adult returning to music after many years, I take the time to understand your goals and adapt each lesson to suit your individual learning style and interests. I want every student to leave their lesson feeling encouraged, motivated and excited to keep making music.
There's nothing I enjoy more than helping people discover just how much joy music can bring. Watching a student grow in confidence, achieve something they once thought impossible, or simply fall in love with playing their instrument is the most rewarding part of what I do.

What I offer
Instrumental Tuition
Whether you're taking your very first lesson or looking to refine advanced techniques, I offer one-to-one tuition in piano, violin, viola, cello and double bass for students of all ages and abilities. Every lesson is tailored to your individual goals, learning style and musical interests, creating a supportive and enjoyable environment where you can progress with confidence.

Music Theory
A strong understanding of music theory provides the foundation for confident musicianship. I offer engaging and accessible theory tuition for complete beginners through to Grade 8, helping students develop the knowledge and skills they need at every stage. Lessons are carefully structured to build confidence, improve musical understanding and prepare students thoroughly for examinations, while making theory practical, relevant and enjoyable.
GCSE & A Level Guidance
Studying Music at GCSE or A Level can be both exciting and challenging. I provide personalised support to help students develop their performance, listening, composition and analytical skills in line with their examination board's requirements. Whether you need ongoing tuition throughout the course or focused support before assessments and exams, I aim to build confidence, strengthen understanding and help you achieve your full potential.
Auditions & Scholarships
Preparing for auditions and scholarship applications can feel daunting, but with the right guidance you can approach them with confidence. I offer tailored coaching to help students prepare polished performances, develop strong musical interpretation and build the confidence needed to perform at their best. Whether you're applying for a school music scholarship, youth orchestra, conservatoire, or another musical opportunity, I provide supportive, personalised guidance throughout the preparation process.
