Who am I?

Hi there, I’m Hefin!

Music has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’m a multi-instrumentalist with over 17 years teaching experience. I love helping people discover just how enjoyable making music can be. Whether you're picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to take things further, my lessons are relaxed, supportive, and tailored to you.

The goal is simple: make great music and enjoy the journey.

Instrumental Tuition

I offer high-quality instrumental tuition for Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass & Piano, from absolute beginner to advanced. Lessons are carefully tailored to each student’s goals, whether they are learning for enjoyment, working towards graded exams, or developing strong technical and musical foundations. My teaching focuses on building confidence, musical understanding, and a genuine enjoyment of playing, helping students progress at a pace that suits them.

Music Theory

Music theory lessons are available for students preparing for Grades 1–8, or for anyone wishing to develop a deeper understanding of how music works. Lessons cover notation, harmony, rhythm, musical structure, and exam preparation where required. A strong grounding in theory supports instrumental development and helps students become more confident, independent musicians.

Audition Preparation

For students preparing for school, scholarship, conservatoire, orchestra, or ensemble auditions, I offer focused audition preparation to help them perform at their best. Lessons include guidance on repertoire choice, performance technique, musical interpretation, and strategies for managing nerves and presenting confidently in an audition setting.

GCSE & A Level Support

I provide tailored support for students studying GCSE or A Level Music, helping them strengthen their understanding of the curriculum and prepare effectively for assessments. Tuition can include support with set works, listening skills, composition, theory, and performance preparation, ensuring students feel confident and well prepared for exams and coursework.
