What instruments do you teach?
I offer tuition in Violin, Viola, Cello & Double Bass as well as Piano. Lessons are tailored to the individual student, whether you're a complete beginner or looking to develop your playing further.
Who are lessons for?
Lessons are available for children and adults of all abilities. Many students start as complete beginners, while others come for support with exams, school ensembles, or simply to improve their playing.
Do I need my own instrument?
Ideally students should have their own instrument to practise at home. If you're just starting out, I'm happy to offer advice on hiring or purchasing an instrument so you get something suitable.
How long are lessons?
Lessons are usually 30, 45, or 60 minutes, depending on the student’s age, level, and goals.
How much are lessons?
30 Minutes - £25
45 Minutes - £37.50 Lessons can be booked in blocks of 5, 10 or 20
60 Minutes - £50
Where do lessons take place?
Lessons are available in person and can also be offered online where appropriate. Please get in touch to discuss availability and locations.
What makes your lessons different?
With over a decade of teaching experience and a background working with orchestras and ensembles, lessons focus not only on learning notes but on developing real musicianship. Students build strong technique, musical understanding, and the confidence to enjoy performing and playing with others.
What experience do you have?
I hold a BMus Hons Degree and have over 17 years of experience teaching instrumental music in a variety of settings, including one-to-one lessons, small groups, whole class teaching, and directing ensembles.
What happens if I need to cancel a lesson?
If you need to cancel a lesson, please give at least 24 hours’ notice. Lessons cancelled with sufficient notice can usually be rescheduled or refunded accordingly. Unfortunately, missed lessons or no-shows without notice will still be charged.
Can I book a trial lesson?
Yes. I offer a free 20-minute consultation lesson for new students. This is a great opportunity to meet, discuss your musical interests and goals, and see how lessons work. It also gives you the chance to ask any questions before committing to regular lessons.
What can I expect from lessons?
Lessons are designed to be supportive, engaging, and enjoyable, helping students develop both their musical ability and confidence. Every student learns differently, so lessons are tailored to individual interests, goals, and pace of learning.
Some students choose to work towards graded exams, while others simply learn for enjoyment or personal development. There is never any pressure to take exams — the focus is always on building strong musicianship and a genuine enjoyment of playing music.
Are you DBS checked and insured?
Yes. I hold an enhanced DBS check and keep my safeguarding training up to date in line with current education standards. I also carry my own public liability insurance, ensuring lessons are delivered in a safe, professional, and fully insured environment for all students.
